AMELIA ISLAND BOOK FESTIVAL February 12-13, 2010
Traditionally held in the fall,
the Amelia Island Book Festival has moved to a new season -
February.
Along with the move to a new date
on the calendar, the 2010 festival will have other new features,
including the first annual Classic Author Celebration. In
partnership with the Friends of the Library, this new event will
honor Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and will be held in downtown
Fernandina's Historic Courthouse. Programs highlighting the
famous author will be featured throughout the weekend.
Friday will feature a Writer's
Workshop at FCCJ's Betty Cook Center in Yulee, author visits to
the Council on Aging and the festival's signature program -
"Authors in Schools." Every school in Nassau County is visited
by a featured author.
Saturday is for readers! Renowned
authors will present lively, interactive programs, and both
writers and readers will be able to mingle in a casual
atmosphere. Additional highlights include the Featured Authors
Luncheon (ticketed event) and readings and activities for
children at "The Children's Chapter."
