Katie Ride For Life
April 19
The Katie Caples Foundation will
host the 4th annual donor awareness bicycling event on April 19.
Cyclists can choose from a 30km, 60km or 100km ride spanning Amelia Island and our
neighbors to the south - Big Talbot, Little Talbot and Fort George islands.

Katie Caples was a student at Bishop Kenny High School
who died in a 1998 automobile accident.
______________________________
Last year, 365 riders of all ages took part
in the Katie Ride For Life and raised over $102,000.
The endeavor of this event is to help underwrite an educational program to raise the
awareness of the shortage of organs available for donation. The primary recipient, Life
Quest Organ Recovery Service, is currently planning its fall semester of "Decision:
Donation." This organ/tissue donation educational program will bring the message of
the importance of making a donation decision to freshmen and sophomores in high school and
their parents. Over 7,700 saw the presentation in the last year.
The Katie Caples Foundation was started in 1998 by the family of Katie Caples, a young
high school student from Jacksonville who became an organ and tissue donor after not
surviving the trauma of an automobile accident.
