January 30, 2003, marked the official launch of the Amelia Island Montessori School's Capital Campaign. Plans are in the works for a new 22,000 square foot campus to be built on over four acres of land in Amelia Park, the award-winning community located in the heart of Amelia Island.
State Representative Aaron Bean served as host for the ceremonies, which included the initial $50,000 deposit check being presented by the Head of Montessori School Dr. Denise McDonald. The goal of the Capital Campaign is to raise at least $2,000,000 for construction of the new school.

The Amelia Island Montessori School was founded in 1973. Many of the original teachers and students are still here on Amelia. After 30 years at several locations on the south end of the island, the school finds itself in need of additional space and a permanent home.
