April 10-16, 2000 at Amelia Island Plantation

Defending champion Monica Seles headlines the initial player field for the 2000 Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island Plantation April 10-16.

This tournament annually features some of the best names in women's tennis. Past champions include Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert and Gabriela Sabatini.

Joining Seles in this year's draw will be former Bausch & Lomb champions

Lindsay Davenport, Mary Pierce, Aranxta Sanchez Vicario and Conchita Martinez, along with Anna Kournikova, Amanda Coetzer and Alexandra Stevenson.

For the players, the Bausch & Lomb Championships is one of the most popular stops on the tour. The picturesque oceanfront setting of the Amelia Island Plantation, as well as the positioning on the WTA tour calendar (the start of the "clay court season") enables the Bausch & Lomb Championships to annually lure the top names in the women's game.
