The streets of downtown Fernandina Beach will come alive the weekend of October 23 - 25 as the Heritage Classic Car Celebration returns for its fifth year, with Volkswagen of America now in the role of title sponsor. The fun begins on Friday night as the "Swinging Medallions" will perform live at an oldies sock hop at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. There will be a dance contest and prizes for the best costumes.

The celebration gains momentum on Saturday and Sunday as
over 300 makes and models of classic and vintage automobiles, trucks, motorcycles,
military vehicles and fire trucks will be displayed on historic Centre Street. Guests will
also have the opportunity to taste a variety of
island foods, shop for antiques and memorabilia and view local art and cultural heritage
exhibits. Costumes are encouraged! So dust off those blue suede shoes, oil that
leather jacket, fluff up that poodle skirt, put on an extra dab of Brylcream and join us
for a stroll back to the future. For more information call Ellen Ensley at (904) 277-0701
