The second annual Amelia Island Jazz Festival will be held the week of November 11-17, with the main concerts held on Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16.
Les DeMerle, world-renowned jazz musician and festival creator will present an all-star lineup of performers for the weekend concerts at the Fernandina Beach Middle School Auditorium. At presstime, those scheduled to appear include Richie Cole and his "Alto Madness" orchestra; Jay Corre - Bebop saxophone legend; the U. S. Navy Band - Southeast Big Band; the Fernandina Beach High School Band with Johnnie Robinson; Jacksonville TV and radio personality Sam Kouvaris; and, of course, The Dynamic Les DeMerle Band featuring Bonnie Eisele.

In addition to world-class performances, the Amelia Island Jazz festival also focuses on music education. From November 11-14, DeMerle and other musicians will visit local schools and conduct clinics for music students. Sometimes, the education goes beyond the classroom, as was the case at last year's event, where the audience was treated to an after-show "jam session" featuring local music students playing alongside jazz legends.
