As
the heat of summer gives way to the cooler temperatures of fall, Amelia Island becomes
even more of a paradise for vacationers and residents alike.
This season is perfect for golf, fishing, horseback riding,
kayaking, tennis, beachcombing, antiquing or just a relaxing day of sightseeing.

Special fall events include the Amelia Island Genealogical Society's 10th Anniversary and
Open House Sep. 17 at the Public Library; the Book Island Festival October 3-6;
Jacksonville Jaguars football; the annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville Nov. 2; the
Veteran's Day Celebration at Ft. Clinch on Nov. 9; and the 2nd Annual Amelia Island
Jazz Festival Nov. 15-16.

The natural beauty of Amelia Island has
inspired many a poet and writer.

Touched by Amelia/bigger>
Once you've been touched by Amelia You'll find yourself drawn to a place Where
rolling waves and gulls in flight Fill a magically nautical space.
You'll find yourself drawn to an island By the light of day you'll explore Her treasures
offered up from her depths Then deposited onto her shore.
A symphony of calling gulls Brown pelicans in flight Green marshes touched by golden hues
Will soothe your sleepless nights
Your steps left on her shoreline
Will wash away with the tide. But once you've been touched by Amelia You'll long to dwell
by her side
You'll return for your own special reason Whatever that reason may be For you've been
charmed by a lady fair And your heart filled with sand shells and sea.-- mary wiggins jones
