EGAN'S CREEK GREENWAY:
A different side of Amelia Island

Residents and visitors of Amelia Island now have another way to view the unique flora and fauna of one of the areašs coastal salt marshes.
On July 22 of this year, the Egan's Creek Greenway, Fernandina's newest park, was officially opened to the public.
The Greenway is 238 acres of environmentally sensitive land along Egan's Creek between Atlantic Avenue and Sadler Road.

The main entrance to the Greenway is behind the auditorium at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Avenue. Here, the Blue Heron Loop begins. This is a 2 mile loop trail that runs between Atlantic Avenue and Jasmine Street. South of Jasmine lies the Red Maple Trail, a 1.4
mile trail. See the artwork (at right) for a map of these trails.
If you hike the Greenway in the early or latter part of the day, you may see a variety of wildlife, including red-shouldered hawks, raccoons, marsh rabbits, otters, opossums, bobcats and a large array of birds, including egrets, herons, wood storks and more.
You may also encounter alligators and various kinds of snakes. Please use caution and do not feed the alligators. If fed, they will have to be removed.
Parking is permitted at all locations. Public bathrooms are available at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center. The Park is open sunrise to sundown. No motorized vehicles, fireworks, firearms or alcohol are permitted. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed
